Restoration

Restoration work is a specialised area in building. It is different in many ways including the fact that the rules and regulations that are used are a lot tighter and stringent. Greater care needs to be taken in restoration projects.

In many restoration projects materials that are used need to be reclaimed or recycled materials. Many projects require buildings to look the same as they were when they were first constructed. Grade listed buildings will have strict guidelines that will have to be adhered to.

Further things to take into account when choosing a building company is the portfolio of work. Businesses with large portfolios will be able to show the work they have done and the standards to which they were completed. Other things that need to be taken into account are the policies of the builders and the way in which they work. Are they good at health and safety? Do they have a good record?

Skilled staff are needed with dealing with these projects. Specialist training is needed to be able to deal with listed and derelict buildings. They have to be able to meet specified regulations, and combine the modern restoration with the old original building, and try to create a synchronised piece of architecture.
